Author Study

Filed under: Uncategorized — allison @ 7:00 am

Jess, Mandy, and I focused on asking students to use a critical perspective to look at Chris Crutcher and the issues he raises in his book. Our author study would begin by asking all of the students to read his autobiography. From there, they would be asked to choose two other titles. As a class, the students will create a Wiki called “Contemporary American Thought.” On the website, there will be a page devoted to each issue that comes up. The pages will discuss the issue, how the issue plays out in Crutcher’s books, present different viewpoints, and address censorship issues.

  1. The Wiki is a great idea. I really like the title. Very clever! It also sounds like a great way for students to discuss and expand upon the issues that Crutcher brings forward in his books. What a wonderful vehicle for critical pedagogy.
