TEENS on WHAT TEENS READ!

Filed under: from your prof — sunyprof @ 9:27 pm

This is a great site from Youngstown State U’s Center for Literature for Young Readers. Take a look at the Lyre Review. Also, check out the current events page and their English Festival in April. They’ve got Chris Crutcher AND Christopher Paul Curtis coming to campus. Road Trip!!

Another site I like is Not required reading.com. Click on books. Watch the video, “Read a Book,” and tell us about it. I didn’t have an application that would open it.

Great sites to model reviewing for your students. Then create your own website for their reviews!! KES

  1. Karen,

the student reviews on “Lyre Review” can serve as wonderful models for students who wish to write book “reviews” rather than book “reports”. Students posting their book reviews online is also an authentic task; rather than just handing in something for the teacher alone, which serves no real purpose, students can offer their thoughts and recommendations to a wider audience. (Of course you know all of this already, but I’m still working through
    a lot of it).
